The course you spent months building and years gathering valuable knowledge to bring to market is sitting on a site priced at a tiny fraction of what you would sell it for. All a thief needs to do was copy your hard work and now they can make money off of you.
If you didn't find your course, congrats, you are clear for the time being. But that doesn't mean it won't be pirated in the future.
For those courses found, the natural reaction is to focus on the lost sale. However, the bigger problem is that you didn't just lose a sale, you lost a customer.
Think about what that customer might actually be worth to your business. If they'd bought from you, you could have gotten them a result. You could have made them other offers down the line. They might have left you a testimonial that brought in the next handful of customers.
That customer of their lifetime could easily be worth 5 to 6 figures of revenue with the right business model. Instead they went and bought a $30 copy, and you'll never even know they existed.
So it's not really the transaction you're losing. It's the person, and everything that relationship would have been worth over time.
Once your course is out there selling for $30, that price exists in the market. So when a real prospect is trying to decide whether to buy from you, there's a chance they come across the pirated version first.
And now the price you price (which is usually based on value) has to compete with thirty dollars. And you can’t stop it.
Even if you were able to shut down one of these sites, another one will pop up. Who wants to play whack-a-mole? Personally I think that is a massive waste of time.
Well fundamentally our industry sells information. And information (in all of its formats) can be easily copied. Text, PDF, and videos take a few quick clicks to to be duplicated and moved somewhere else.
This doesn't matter if the value of the information is worth $100 bucks or $18,000 (yes there are a few courses in the search tool that are priced that high)… A course can easily be cloned and sold for around thirty bucks..

On top of piracy we also have AI. Why would someone drop five figures on information when they can go to an LLM, describe their situation, and get the substance of what you teach reproduced and personalized to them, for free, in a few seconds.
If you watch the State of Info Products video on my YouTube channel I talk about this at length, but the TLDR is that information alone is being commoditized by Ai tools ability to apply any information to a users life context (without the paywall).
So we have two things happening here. On one side your stuff is being copied and sold for next to nothing. On the other end it's being regenerated for free (without your consent). And because of these, the value of selling information is falling off a cliff and it’s very unlikely to ever recover.
If you can't stop the copying the real question becomes what can you do?. And the answer is actually ridiculously simple: to stop selling files. Stop selling information. Start selling transformation.
You can pirate a video of someone explaining a method. You can't really pirate a running system. By a system I mean a product the customer actually logs into and where the user does the work to get the transformation they paid you for.
Instead of laying every nook and cranny out on the table for people to see, you build systems that apply your unique process to the user’s situation in real time.
This is what I call a transformation based product. The north star of such a product is that by using the product, the customer will naturally get the outcome they paid for.
A great example of this is Duolingo. They don’t teach you how to learn a language. You sign in, and start learning your language of choice. The methodology is ingrained in the product.
And guess what? That can’t really be copied because there is nothing to download. Someone may be able to superficially copy the software, but because the product is a system, they can’t really get a full view of how your unique intellectual property works under the hood.
This is the one truly defensible position in a world where content can easily be scraped and copied.
The last thing I want you to take from this is probably the most important.
A course sitting on a piracy site is not worthless.. Yea it sucks, but the fact someone bothered to steal it tells you it's valuable. Selling legitimate expertise isn’t the issue, but model you use to deliver it is.
In an information business, your intellectual property are files, and files can easily be stolen. If you turn that information into a system, it becomes almost impossible to steal your work.
And it’s built upon the same knowledge you already have while creating a completely different kind of business.
So, back to the question. Is your course being pirated? For a lot of creators yes. Can you actually stop it? Honestly, no.
